Do you imagine when somebody says 'improving/studying English' only sitting at a desk and drilling vocabulary and grammar? There are some other ways how to improve your English (or any other foreign language). There are many little ways how to do this - the key is to do it consistently and the progress will be apparent.

(see the bottom of the page for vocabulary)

1. podcasts Listening to podcasts is currently my favorite way how to improve a foreign language. I can listen to podcasts when I´m for example in a tram, waiting for somebody or cleaning.

2. watching and following Nowadays everybody can find TV series or Youtube channels or social media accounts what they are interested in. This can expose us to the ´real English´ - how English speakers really use the language - e.g. what phrases they use or pronunciation.

3. reading Obviously, reading can broaden our vocabulary and we can learn new phrases. An easier way is to read books with one page written in English and the other in your mother tongue - there can be found translation of unknown words or phrases right on the other page.

4. writing Another little way how to improve languages is to write a journal in English. If this is too hard, an easier way is to write down things we did during the day. This way we are activating our vocabulary.

5. switching your phone into English And last but not least - switch your phone to English. This can help with learning new vocabulary. Here are 5 little ways how to improve your English, everyone can find the right way for them.
